The New Jersey Devils rode five second-period goals to a resounding 7-4 victory over the New York Rangers on Tuesday. It was the first win this season for New Jersey over its New York City counterpart.

Ryan Graves got the party started with his sixth goal of the season some 7:12 into the second period. Soon the barrage of Devils' scores followed as P.K. Subban, Dawson Mercer, Tomas Tatar, and Yegor Sharangovich all scored goals in a matter of 10 minutes.

Jack Hughes would eventually join the fun in the third period with a pair of goals, including one on a power play to push New Jersey to a 7-3 lead.

The seven goals on Tuesday night was the sixth time this season that New Jersey has scored that many times in a single game. They are 6-0 when doing so.

Meanwhile, the New York Islanders remain hot, winning their seventh game in their last 10 match-ups, shutting out the Ottawa Senators 3-0 on the Island.

The game was a scoreless battle as goalies Semyon Varlamov of the Islanders and Anton Forsberg exchanged blocked shots for two whole periods. The Islanders finally broke the ice in the third period when Scott Mayfield scored the first of the night on a slapshot, nearly half-way through the third period. Anders Lee and Brock Nelson were credited with assists.

Lee would score his 24th goal of the year with a little over three minutes remaining in the game to make it 2-0. Zach Parise added the final goal of the night some two minutes later. New York is now 27-25-9 on the year.
