MLBA Makes A Proposal In an Attempt to End The Lockout
Latest news coming from The Major League Baseball (MLB) Lockout as the Player’s Association has made a new offer to the league officials in hopes of ending an unprecedented time for both the players and the fans. But what is this new offer? More importantly how might it affect the lockout?
Well, this is coming in the wake of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred officially canceling the first two series of regular season games due to this labor dispute, something that hasn’t happened in nearly twenty-seven years. This came in a lengthy news letter that discussed the main concern of the owners. As well as what they agreed and disagreed with the players on.

Now The MLBPA has made a new offer which those in charge have deemed as going backwards. This new proposal addresses issues and requests outside of the core economics issues addressed last Monday. Such as allowing the commissioner to put in a pitch clock or larger bases. The players were hesitant, but agreed as long as the right set of circumstances were met.
However, The Players Association dropped its proposed starting point for a pre-arbitration bonus pool to $80 million. This is five million dollars less than where it was last week, despite this the owners reinstated that this proposal was halting progress instead of moving forward.

With nobody really sure when the two sides will come to a deal. Fans as well as workers worry about the possibility of more games being cancelled. So far this has led the MLBPA to start a fund to help those financially affected by the lockout. The fund has already reached over 1 million dollars when it started last week.
What do you think of the lockout? With the ongoing struggle between the players and owners seemingly at no end what will happen if by the end of March there is no deal made? We’ll have to wait for those answers and hope it doesn’t come to that.
