Rutgers Host Penn State In Regular Season Finale
The Rutgers men’s basketball team will face Penn State in their regular season finale. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a big win against Indiana keeping them in the top six of the conference. They have an overall record of 17-12 with a conference record of 11-8.
The last time these two teams met Penn State beat RU 66-49. Penn State played great defense as RU shot 34% from the field and turned the ball over 15 times. Things will have to be different around this time if RU wants to stay in the conversation for a ticket to the big dance.
As of now Rutgers is one of the last four teams in the tournament according to Joe Lunardi. They have big time wins that will help them get in such as their historic run winning four straight against ranked teams. Also they have some bad losses like Lafayette and Massachusetts.
A win against Penn State might not mean a whole lot but it will keep them in the conversation for the big dance. With the Big Ten tournament starting next week Rutgers has to get a couple wins there too. Making it to the semifinals or even the championship game should be enough for RU to breathe a little easier. Until then they must play every game like it is their last.
The Scarlet Knights will play their last regular season game of the year at Jersey Mike’s Arena at 12 on the Big Ten Network.
