Despite the prolonged MLB Lockout that will assuredly wipe out at least the first week of the Major League season, minor league baseball will go on as planned. MLB announced months ago that affiliated Minor League Baseball will not be affected by the lockout. Minor League camps are in fact open in Florida and Arizona as we speak.
The Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, put out a statement via General Manager Patrick McVerry stating that the Patriots will play the 2022 season as planned.
The Patriots begin the 2022 season on the road at Reading Fightin Phills from April 8 - 10. The home opener is April 12 against the Erie Seawolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
And in case you are wondering, the Patriots play the Mets Double-A affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in up-state New York from June 1 - 5, and at TD Bank Ballpark from August 2-7.
