The Rutgers softball rode the left arm of Jaden Vickers who struck out 14 batters in a 3-0 victory over Cornell on Sunday as the Scarlet Knights completed a four wins to one loss weekend at the Spring Games in Leesburg, Florida.

Rutgers is now 11-4 on the season.

Vickers gave up only one hit, struck out the side in both the first and second innings, and didn't allow a base runner until the sixth inning. In short it was complete domination. The junior is now 7-1 with a sparkling 1.91 ERA in 55 innings pitched this season.

Her superlative effort on Sunday capped off a weekend of pitching excellence by Vickers, who struck out 16 batters over seven innings of two-hit ball in a 5-0 win on Friday against Princeton. On Saturday, she gave up three runs and struck out only eight over eight innings in Rutgers' 4-3 win over FGCU. Overall, Vickers went 3-1 on the weekend with 39 strikeouts.

Offensively, the Scarlet Knights scratched out a pair of runs on a two-run, fourth inning single by Ashley Hitchcock. A RBI single by Gabrielle Callaway in the seventh put Rutgers up 3-0 on Cornell.

Callaway finished 8-for-19 (.421) with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and four RBI on the weekend.

Payton Lincavage had a great weekend as well, hitting .353 (6-for-17) with four RBI. Kyleigh Sand scored six runs over the five games.

Rutgers will return to action on March 3 at the Liberty Softball Invitational and will face Liberty, George Washington, Notre Dame, and Lehigh. Rutgers home opener is not until March 17.
