Kyrie Irving has not been able to play in any home games this season for the Nets because of his decision to stay unvaccinated. All of that could change with the Nets getting ready to make a playoff push after All-Star break.

In a media conference on Wednesday New York City Mayor Eric Adams stated he hopes to phase out of the vaccine mandates in the coming weeks. In NYC, in order to get into indoor places you have to have proof of you’ve received two doses of the Pfizer and Moderna or one dose from Johnson & Johnson.

Adams will be following the science and will be meeting with public health advisors to make the right decisions. There is no official date to when NYC will phase out of the mandate but Adams would like to move on this as soon as possible.

At first the Nets did not allow Irving to play because he would only play away games. By mid-December the Nets had changed their minds. After the first 35 games of the season the Nets finally let Irving play.

The Nets are 28-31 in the Eastern Conference putting them in the play-in tournament. This team has higher expectations than where they are now. The Nets had Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden to start the season. With Irving only playing away games, Durant hurt and Harden frustrated the Nets were falling in the standings.

Now Harden is in Philadelphia and the Nets have Ben Simmons now, the team hopes to get back on track to winning in hopes to get to a championship.
