Rutgers baseball is set to begin the 2022 season on Friday, February 18 down in Houston, Texas when the Scarlet Knights open up a three-game series against Houston Baptist.

Last season, the Scarlet Knights compiled a record of 21-23, with all games against the Big Ten last season due to precautions against COVID-19. The 2022 season will mark the first full season the program has played since 2019, the year prior to the start of the pandemic.

Last season the Scarlet Knights earned some huge victories in the Big 10. The got victories at Michigan, Nebraska and Northwestern for the first time ever. And even won series vs. Michigan, Northwestern and Ohio State for the first time in program history.

Mike Nyisztor led the Knights in hitting with a .351 batting average and an on base of .456. In the power department Ryan Lasko led all Rutgers hitters with 11 home runs, while Chris Brito led the team in RBI with 43.

On the hill, Ben Wereski led the team with a 6-2 record and 3.67 ERA in 13 starts. However it was Harry Rutkowski who led the Scarlet Knights in strikeouts with 70 on the season.
