Rutgers 13 - Marist 10

Rutgers Men's Lacrosse moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 13-10 victory over Marist on Wednesday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights were led by three goals a piece by Mitch Bartolo and Scott Ross, as Rutgers built a 10-5 lead through three quarters.

"It was a great midweek, early season game. I'd like to see us keep getting better from each game and each opportunity and this was a good one for us to continue to grow from," Head Coach Brian Brecht said afterwards.

In fact Ross and Bartolo were responsible for the first three goals scored by Rutgers in the first quarter as RU took a commanding 3-1 lead.

After Marist tied it on goals by Jamison Embury and Vito Musso, Rutgers re-gained the lead on Ronan Jacoby's goal with 8:47 to go in the second period. The Jacoby goal was the beginning of a 7-2 run by Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights grabbed a 10-5 lead. Michael Sanguinetti had a pair of goals during that stretch in the third quarter.

Brian Cameron, Kellen Pluera and Shane Knobloch all had goals in the fourth quarter as Rutgers held on for the 13-10 victory.

Colin Kirst got the victory in net for Rutgers, recording 19 saves.

Rutgers will visit St. John's on Saturday at 12:30.
