RUTGERS 15 - LIU 6

Even frigid conditions was not going to slow down 10th ranked Rutgers' men's lacrosse as they blitzed LIU in a convincing 15-6 decision to open the 2022 season.

Rutgers (1-0) was led by Mitch Bartolo who had five goals and a career high six points in his first game with the Scarlet Knights.

"We played hard, we played with energy. Some good things out there today, and we'll keep going over it in film and moving forward. It's about learning from our mistakes, cleaning those up. We're never satisfied and just need to keep bringing that energy every day," Bartolo said.

Rutgers opened the scoring on a shot by Scott Ross at the 13:36 mark. 13 seconds later Bartolo was in net for the first of two goals he would score in the first quarter to give RU a quick 2-0 lead.

Ross would net his second goal of the day at the start of the second quarter to give Rutgers a 5-0 advantage.

Ronan Jacoby, Will Snelders and Michael Sanguinetti all had multi-score games for the Scarlet Knights on Saturday.

Rutgers is now 10-1 in season openers under head coach Brian Brecht.
