It may be the dead of winter, but spring sports are starting to heat up the scene at Rutgers University. 10th Ranked Men's Lacrosse begins its season on Saturday when they host LIU at 1 p.m. from SHI Stadium.

Last season the Scarlet Knights compiled an 8-2 regular season, and qualifying for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2004. They subsequently defeated Lehigh 12-5 in the first round of the NCAA tournament, the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 1990,  before falling to top seeded North Carolina in a 12-11 overtime thriller.

This season's squad will return five All American's to the roster including: Colin Kirst; Jaryd Jean-Felix; Ethan Rall; David Sprock, and Shane Knobloch.

Four of those players were named Preseason All-Americans (Kirst, Rall, Knobloch and Sprock), while they were joined by short-stick defensive midfielder Brennan Kamish. Alongside Kamish, RU brings back all four of its Short Stick Defense Midfielders (Tommy Coyne, Cole Daninger and Zackary Franckowiak), a key to RU's up-tempo offense.

RU also returns key starters in midfielder Ryan Gallagher, defenseman Bobby Russo, and Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch Ross Scott.

The Scarlet Knights will host LIU on February 5 and Marist on February 9 before hitting the road to Queens, New York to face St. John's. Other notable match-ups include a date with Princeton on March 12; Ohio State comes to Piscataway on March 27 and Johns Hopkins comes to Jersey on April 3. The season ends April 24 against Penn State.

16th ranked Women's Lacrosse begins their season on February 12.
