Jerry Recco, the man behind the mic of so many great Rutgers basketball moments the past six years has been named the New Jersey Sportscaster of the Year by the NSMA (National Sports Media Association).

Recco has been the voice of Rutgers basketball since the 2016-17 season. He has had the call of numerous big moments in program history, including Rutgers' first NCAA Tournament victory over Clemson last March, as well Ron Harper's game winning shot vs. then-first ranked Purdue on December 9. He is also the host of The Steve Pikiel Podcast, which can be heard here on Fox Sports New Jersey.

Recco is well known in the Tri-State area as one of the most versatile sportscasters in the market.

In addition to his duties with Rutgers, Recco is the co-host of The Warm-Up Show on WFAN with Al Hughes Dukes from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., Recco slides into the morning updates role on the Boomer and Gio Show on FAN.

Recco, who holds a B.A. in Media Arts from New Jersey City University has covered both the Jets and Giants for WFAN, and is the voice of Columbia football since 2006.

Recco will be honored later this summer during the NSMA's 62nd Awards Weekend and National Convention, June 25-27 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Michael Cohen is the News and Sports Director at Fox Sports Radio New Jersey and Magic 98.3 FM, as well as a radio production assistant with Fox and Magic in New Jersey. He started his career in Somerset in 2018 initially as a news fill-in at WCTC 1450 AM, and soon moved up to higher responsibilities in the ensuing years, assuming News & Sports Director title in 2021Prior to his time with Fox Sports New Jersey, Michael was play-by-play voice for New Jersey Jackals baseball, and as well as play-by-play and color for the College of Staten Island basketball (men and women), softball and baseball. Michael began his career as a news and sportswriter with the Jersey Journal of Hudson County.
