Rutgers is pulling in more transfers into their football program for next season.
The latest addition, offensive lineman Mike Ciaffone, transfers from Colorado State where he played six games for the Rams last season. Before playing for Colorado State, Ciaffone was originally recruited to Boston College where he started only two games over two seasons as a defensive lineman.
Coming to Rutgers is a homecoming for Ciaffone, who grew up in Morristown. His father, Joe, played for Rutgers in the 1990's. According to SB Nation, Ciaffone has three years of eligibility left.
Ciaffone isn't the only Jersey native to come home to sign up with Rutgers for 2022. Hammonton native JD DiRenzo, a 6-foot-6, 315 lb offensive lineman is coming to RU. He was a three-time All-Conference selection and two-time All-American for Sacred Heart, one of the best rushing teams in the FCS.
According to reports, Rutgers beat out Michigan State, Purdue, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Kentucky for his rights. DiRenzo has one year of eligibility left.
Earlier in the month, Rutgers also got a commitment from former West Virginia wide receiver Sean Ryan.
