Gear up as fans who have been waiting for the official Uncharted film excitedly discuss the coming film. Back in late October, the public were greeted with the trailer of another iconic game franchise that's receiving it’s turn on the big screen.
That’s right Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series is receiving their first ever film. This is coming from PlayStation Productions as well as Columbia Pictures the company behind well-known films like the Spiderman franchise. Speaking of everyone's favorite spider, this project got huge attention back in 2020 when Tom Holland, made this post.
Ever since fans have been waiting for more information and a chance to see trailers. Thankfully the wait was over thanks to the Game Awards, which showed a stunning trailers of the upcoming film and what fans could expect for visuals and CGI, but quickly this hype was followed with this official poster.
While most fans are generally excited about the project, some have taken to Twitter to bash the film saying the casting could have been better. For those who know the games the character of Victor Sullivan appears older in the games. Instead, Mark Wahlberg, will take the role making some happy even critiquing that Mark doesn’t have Victor’s iconic mustache. Another thing is the casting for protagonist Nathan Drake, being given to Tom Holland. Despite Tom having a very successful career some feel he doesn’t fit the role because of his appearance compared to the rough and gruff character presented in the games.
No matter what people think fans were blown away when this trailer released today, leading the hype for the film to be more grounded and hope to blossom among the community. Though those who are excited are still being cautious not wanting to see a game they grew up with fail to live up to the name. They do have good reason to be concerned as films based of video games have had varying levels of success in the past. With the most recent Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City receiving very mixed reviews from the fans and critiques alike. But as we’ve seen with other titles there is a possibility for the team to surprise us with a hit film that may even lead to sequels following the originally game franchise.
Uncharted is coming exclusively to theaters next month February 18th, what do you think of the upcoming film will it be a Hollywood hit or will it crash? We’re excited to join the discussion with you as more information becomes available.
