The team infamously named the Washington Football Team will have a new name according to multiple reports.

Washington's NFL franchise will reveal its new name come Wednesday, February 2, and according to sources it will not be Redwolves, a popular moniker that took fire in social media circles. According to Team President Jason Wright, the franchise couldn't lock in "Wolves" due to trademark with other teams.

So what will it be?

The name Commanders seems to be gaining steam on social media. In fact, take a look at this tweet by Sports Illustrated Michael Fabiano! It appears to show Washington's revamped uniform to show three stars that are typically seen in military uniforms such as a general or ... wait for it ... commander!

We will know soon enough what the name will be for the Giants' division rival. The franchise formally known as the "Redskins" changed the name after years of outside pressure to change a name deemed "insensitive" to the Native American community. For the past two years, the franchise has been known as the Washington Football Team, a name that drawn strong criticism for its blandness. The Washington Football Team is not only trying to change its image via nickname, but they are also trying expunge years of controversy surrounding sexual harrassment allegations, and poor management under owner Daniel Snyder.
