Rutgers Basketball Keeps Momentum Going with Win over CCS
RUTGERS 79 – CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE 48
The Scarlet Knights continue to put up big numbers offensively as they took down Central Connecticut State 79-48 at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Saturday.
A couple of nights after they shot 53 percent from the floor in their 80-64 win over Maine, Rutgers kept the good vibes going, shooting 50 percent from the floor on Saturday.
Once again Clifford Omoruyi played a major role on both sides of the floor, delivering a double-double (19 points and 12 rebounds) to lead Rutgers.
A 15-0 Rutgers run late in the first half gave RU a 30-point lead, their largest halftime lead of the season at 44-14.

“I thought we came out ready, we’re getting better, 25 assist on 35 plays is off the charts and I love that,” Head Coach Steve Pikiell said. “I thought we rebounded today, a little bit of sloppy play down the stretch, but we played good basketball, everyone contributed, we got everyone in the game, and now we got to get ready for what’s next. We need everyone to show up on Tuesday, we have a huge game against Michigan.”
Yes, Rutgers will face a stiff test this week when they play host to the Wolverines on Tuesday. But they will face a Michigan team that has struggled at bit of late. Michigan has lost two of its last three games to stand at 7-5 on the season.
