FLORIDA STATE 1 - RUTGERS 0

A brilliant season has come to an end. Rutgers Women's Soccer fell short of their ultimate goal, losing 1-0 to Florida State in the Final Four round of the College Cup.

A game that was scoreless after one half of play, and remained so until the 70th minute when Florida State's Jaelin Howell punched the ball past Megan McClelland after the ball had bounced around in a scrum near the net on a Florida State corner kick.

Rutgers did everything they could to get the tying goal in the final 15 minutes of the game, but on six shots they came up short, including two last second attempts by Allison Lowrey inside the final minute that didn't make it past goalie Cristina Roque.

Both teams finished the night with nine shots and four shots on goal. Lowrey had four shots, two shots on goal. Riley Tiernan, Frankie Tagliaferri, Emily Mason, Becci Fluchel, and Samantha Kroeger all attempted shots for Rutgers.

McClelland had three saves for RU.

Rutgers finishes a historic season at 19-4-2. They have a lot to be proud of with a number of players have been named All Americans, a club that captured the Big 10 Regular Season title, advanced all the way to the Big 10 Championship Game, and the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament.
