RUTGERS 74 - CLEMSON  64

The Scarlet Knights have that winning feeling back.

After three consecutive heart-breaking losses by a combined seven points, Rutgers got back on the winning track with a 74-64 win over Clemson at Jersey Mike's Arena. It was a re-match of last spring's NCAA Tournament match-up between these schools, a game Rutgers won to advance to the second round.

"These guys played their hearts out," Head Coach Steve Pikiell said. "We're down Geo (Baker), one of our most experienced guys. These guys really stepped it up today. I thought everyone that checked in the game really helped us."

With Geo Baker sidelined, it turned into a huge night for senior forward Ron Harper Jr. who had 23 points and nine rebounds to lead Rutgers. Harper had a huge second half for RU, leading the way with 15 points, including consecutive three's to help Rutgers build a 53-46 lead with 9:22 to go in the game.

Meanwhile Caleb McConnell, Clifford Omoruyi and Aundre Hyatt were also in double figures for the Scarlet Knights, with McConnell leading that trio with 16 points.

Hyatt even had this sick three pointer from the corner early in the first half.

Rutgers will pay a visit to Illinois on Friday night in the first Big 10 action of the season for the Scarlet Knights. Tip-off at 7 p.m.
