Devils Offense Lights the Lamp Five Times vs. Flyers
DEVILS 5 – FLYERS 2
Having lost five of their last six games, the New Jersey Devils woke up offensively, pounding the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 on Sunday night.
The Devs were led by Andreas Johnsson’s two goals and two assists, as New Jersey improved to 9-6-4, still 11 points behind the surging Washington Capitals in the Metropolitan Division.
“Total team effort,” Johnsson said. “We gave them a little opportunity at first to come back in the game, but we stayed with it and we were patient and we scored a couple of huge goals in the end.”
Dougie Hamilton opened the scoring for New Jersey in the first period on a feed from Johnsson and Jesper Bratt to make it 1-0 New Jersey.

After Philly tied it, the Devils took the lead right back when Johnsson took a pass from Bratt and nailed it into the goal to make it 2-1.

The third period was all New Jersey, as three different Devils scored. With the game knotted at two a piece, Jesper Bratt netted his fifth goal of the season, breaking another tie, while handing New Jersey the lead they would not relinquish. Nathan Bastain and Johnsson added to the offensive barrage with goals of their own to blow the game wide open.
The Devils host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
