For the third time this season, Rutgers Men's Basketball trailed at halftime.
For the third straight game, RU put together a huge second half surge to pull away with the victory. That was the case on Tuesday, during a 75-61 win over NJIT, as Rutgers remains unbeaten at 3-0.
The Scarlet Knights were led by Ron Harper Jr. (20 points, 13 boards) and Geo Baker (19 points).
For Baker, he nailed seven of his first eight shots and scored 11 points in the first half. He also had the step back jumper falling and was 3-4 from three-point land in the game. The point guard finished the night 8-10 from the field and added three rebounds and four assists.
As for Harper Jr., his double-double on Tuesday kept a streak of three alive of consecutive double-doubles alive with three games; a first in his career.
"Those two guys really had it going, Geo had a great stretch there," Head Coach Steve Pikiell told scarletknights.com. "When those two guys are scoring, we're tough. Ron was going downhill in the second half to get to the rim and posting up and doing the things he can do around the basket. I really think our best days are ahead as a basketball team."
Rutgers trailed at the half by a single point, 33-32. Come the second half, Rutgers offense exploded for 43 points. Baker and Harper were responsible for eight of Rutgers' first 10 points of the second half. Harper had two-three pointers to open things up for RU as they jumped in front 44-41.
Layups by Caleb McConnell and Ralph Agree helped RU build their lead to nine, 52-43, as Rutgers never trailed again for the rest of the evening.
Rutgers will hit the road for the first time this year on Thursday when they visit DePaul. Tip-off at 8:30 ET. Catch the action right here on Fox Sports New Jersey.
