Rutger's women's basketball is off to a sizzling start to the 2021-22 season after defeating Fairfield 48-42, Sunday, to improve to 3-0.

It was the third straight contest where Rutgers held an opponent under 50 points, with Fairfield hitting on only 34 percent of their shots from the field.

Rutgers was led by Grad Transfer Victoria Morris with 12 points, including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. She hit on five consecutive points to help Rutgers pull in front 33-30 in the third quarter, and nailed a critical three-pointer in the fourth quarter with Rutgers clinging to a four-point lead.

Graduate student Osh Brown had a standout performance on the defensive front recording 11 rebounds and 8 points. It was her 61st career double-digit rebounding game, and the eight points gave her 1500 for her college career, which began at Ball State.

Rutgers will host Stony Brook on Tuesday night at Jersey Mike's Arena at 7 p.m. Harvard will come to town on Friday night. Rutgers will hit the road for the first time this year during the Thanksgiving Day weekend to face DePaul, Vanderbilt and Arizona in the Paradise Jam at the Virgin Islands.
