Rutgers Women’s Soccer Advances in NCAA Tournament
Rutgers women’s soccer is moving on to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after dominating Bucknell 2-0 at Yurcak Field in Piscataway.
The victory moves Rutgers (18-3) onto a date with St. Louis on Friday, November 19 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Rutgers owned every aspect of this game. They outshot Bucknell 32-10; shots on goal were edge Rutgers 17-6. Rutgers had seven corner kicks, to Bucknell’s one. It was a complete team effort for a Scarlet Knights program in its 10th straight NCAA Tournament.
Senior Frankie Tagliaferri netted the first goal of the afternoon at the 30 minute mark of the first half to give Rutgers a 1-0 lead. Freshman Riley Tiernan tallied her fifth goal of the year in the 60th minute to make it 2-0.

Goalie Megan McClelland notched six saves in net for the Scarlet Knights, recording the club’s 12th shutout of the season.
