Rutgers Women’s Basketball Host South Alabama
The first game without Coach C. Vivian Stringer went well for the Rutgers women’s basketball team as they got the win over Saint Peter’s University 59-38. For the first time since the 2018-2019 season 11 different players recorded a point in a game. The Scarlet Knights have now won 11 consecutive regular season non-conference games going back to the 2019-2020 season.

Sophomore guard Liz Martino scored a career high 11 points leading all scorers, she also had a career high in assists with six and was aggressive on defense as she was able to get four steals. Grad transfer Osh Brown had a great Rutgers debut with eight points and a game high 11 rebounds. The defense for the Scarlet Knights was clicking on all cylinders as they forced 34 turnovers the most since 2014-2015 season and grabbing 21 steals, the most since they had 22 against Wisconsin Dec. 11, 2020.
South Alabama was able to get off to a good start as well as they were able to squeeze past Mobile 63-59. Zena Elias had a great debut for South Alabama as she recorded a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Her teammate Mahogany Vaught led the team in scoring with 14 points and had four assist. South Alabama’s bench helped out a lot outscoring Mobile’s bench 15-7. The Scarlet Knights look to continue their defensive dominance at home as they host South Alabama Friday Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
