Devils Explode for Seven Goals Against Panthers

DEVILS 7 - PANTHERS 3

The New Jersey Devils enjoyed their highest scoring output of the season, as they handed a once red-hot Florida Panthers team its second straight defeat.

Andreas Johnsson scored twice in the victory, and P.K. Subban had the go-ahead goal for the Devils in the second period.

New Jersey trailed 3-2 in the second period until Johnsson tied it on an assist from Dawson Mercer and Ty Smith.

Later with a little less than two minutes to go in the second period, Subban gave New Jersey the lead for good when he slapped the puck from center ice and watched it sail into the net for the go-ahead goal.

It was all Devils after that.

Pavel Zacha scored on a power play nearly five minutes into the third period to extend the New Jersey lead to 5-3.  31 seconds later Ty Smith got on the board with a goal of his own to make it 5-3, Devils. Jimmy Vessey capped off the scoring at the 16 minute mark in the period.

New Jersey wound up scoring multiple goals in every period on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile goalie Mackenzie Blackwood recorded 35 saves in net for New Jersey.
