Sunday, November 7 is going to be a historic day on the campus of Rutgers University.

Both women's soccer and field hockey are heading to the Big 10 Title games that will take place Sunday afternoon on campus.

Field Hockey advanced to the title game after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Penn State on Friday.  The Scarlet Knights will face Michigan for all the marbles at 12 noon. The game can be seen on the Big Ten Network.

Should Rutgers Field Hockey win the title it would be the first in program history.

"I'm so proud of this team and this program," head coach Meridith Civico was quoted as saying on Scarletknights.com.   "We knew this game would be a battle.

"Playing back-to-back in this tournament is so challenging. Penn State played really well, but I'm so proud of our team for how we defended, how we were able to take advantage of our opportunities and get ourselves into the Championships. That's incredible. I had a real vision for this program and we put our heart and souls into this."

Rutgers scored the opening goal at the 6:27 mark when Birdy Molyneaux took a feed from Katie Larmour, and slapped it into the goal for the 1-0 lead.

In the third quarter, Kassidy Shetler took the pass from Milena Redlingshoefer  on a penalty corner, and jammed it home for the 2-0 advantage.

The Scarlet Knights have put together one of the best season's in program history. RU currently stands at 17-3 overall, surpassing the 1986's team's record of 15 wins in a season.

Rutgers has also notched new program bests with 11 ranked wins; five top 10 victories, seven ranked road wins; six Big Ten Conference Wins, and First Ever Big Ten Championship Game Appearance among other terrific feats.
