Rutgers returns home to host Wisconsin
After two weeks on the road, and a bye week in between, Rutgers football is back at SHI Stadium to host No. 21 Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.. Last week the Scarlet Knights were able to pick up their first conference victory over Illinois in a 20-14 slugfest that featured Rutgers running for over 200 yards on the ground.
This will be another huge test for Rutgers as Wisconsin is leading the nation in total defense, only giving up 214.6 yards per game and giving up 3.8 yards per play that average is second best in the nation.
Rutgers will have to rely heavy on their offensive line to hold up on the line of scrimmage and win in the trenches. The team has done well protecting the quarterback as they allowed no sacks, making it the fifth of the season allowing one or less.
Rutgers did well not turning the ball over last week as well and that will have to continue into this week.
Another thing Rutgers will have to watch for is their run game. Rutgers has been able to average 143 yards on the ground and is led by running back Isaih Pacheco, but Wisconsin virtually has no flaws in their defense as they allow the least rushing yards per game at 49.6 and fewest yards per carry at 1.7.
Rutgers will have to play a near perfect game in order to give themselves against a top two defense in the nation.
Before the game there will be an RU Brewfest in the Block R Party at 12:30.
This event will have music and more than 30 brands of beer to taste from both from local breweries and international. Tickets for the fest also come with admission into the game as upper-level cost start at $50 and lower-level at $60.
It is also Military Appreciation day and to celebrate there will be a pregame flyover recognizing each branch as well as more will be happening in and around SHI Stadium.
