The Houston Astros have evened up the 2021 World Series at a game a piece, blowing past the Atlanta Braves 7-2, behind five strong innings from Jose Urquidy .

In a postseason where starting pitchers are not going very deep into games, Urquidy five-inning effort is something of a rarity nowadays. He held Atlanta to just two runs on six hits, walked none and struck out seven. It was a solid bounce-back effort for the Sinaola, Mexico native, who gave up six runs to the Red Sox in his previous outing in the ALCS.

With the score tied at one, Houston exploded for four runs in the bottom half of the second inning. Jose Siri's infield single allowed Kyle Tucker to score to give Houston a 2-1 advantage. Next catcher Martin Maldonado sliced a single into shallow left field, allowing Yuli Gurriel to score. Siri came home on a throwing error by Atlanta.

Michael Brantley capped the scoring in the frame with an RBI single of his own to drive in Siri to make it 5-1.

Jose Altuve would later hit his fourth home run of the postseason in the seventh inning to give the Astros the 7-2 advantage.
