Jets re-acquire Joe Flacco from Eagles
In dire need of a veteran quarterback, the New York Jets have acquired Joe Flacco from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional sixth round pick. The pick could become a fifth rounder depending on performance.
The Jets brought back Flacco after Zach Wilson was ruled out for the next month due to a sprained PCL in his right knee; an injury he suffered in Sunday’s 54-13 loss to the New England Patriots.
Flacco, an Audubon, New Jersey native, started four games for the Jets in 2020 in place of an injured Sam Darnold. While he went 0-4 as a starter, Flacco did throw six touchdowns to three interceptions, and gave the offense some life in defeats to New England and the LA Chargers last season.
FWIW: The Jets did have some interest in bringing back Flacco at the start of the offseason. Many speculated he wouldn't be a good scheme fit, but there was some level of interest. And now he's back. #Jets

At 36, Flacco is certainly not the player he once was with the Baltimore Ravens when he won a Super Bowl back in 2012; he is now a journeyman back-up.
Still, the Jets had no veteran quarterbacks on the roster, an issue that has been prevalent all season.
Mike White, who had never appeared in an NFL game until Sunday, when he came in for Wilson, will get the start this weekend when the Jets host the 5-2 Cincinnati Bengals.
Flacco gives the Jets some much needed insurance for the remainder of the year.
The Jets hope that Wilson will return by mid-November.
