Rutgers Women’s Soccer Captures Big 10 Title
They are now champions of the Big 10 for the first time ever!
Ninth ranked Rutgers women’s soccer defeated Indiana 2-0 on Thursday night to send the program to 9-0 in Big 10 conference play, capturing its first ever Big 10 title.

It’s a credit to the players and staff for all their hard work,” said Head Coach Mike O’Neill. “So we will enjoy the victory tonight and get back to work tomorrow as there is still so much to play for. I am so happy and proud of the players and staff. Forever Rutgers, Forever Family.”
Senior Amirah Ali put RU on the board at the 21 minute mark working around two Indiana defenders, kicking the ball between them, and through the back corner of the net to make it 1-0.

In the second period, Allison Lynch fed the ball across the net to Frankie Tagliaferri for her 12th goal of the year to make it 2-0 at the 50th minute.

Meagan McClelland registered four saves in net for the Lady Scarlet Knights. It was the eighth shutout posted by Rutgers this season.
Rutgers faces Illinois in the regular season finale, where they will try to extend their winning streak to 11 games. At 14-2, Rutgers is going into the Big 10 Tournament with a head of steam. The conference tournament begins on Halloween, October 31.
