New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy says the state has no plan to follow New York City's rule requiring all teachers and government workers be vaccinated against COVID, without the option for weekly testing.
Currently the state requires government workers and educators get vaccinated or submit to weekly testing.
In fact, the governor made announced on Wednesday that all new state contractors must get the vaccine against COVID, or take the option to get weekly testing.
New York City's new rule removes the option for the unvaccinated to get regular testing. Everyone must get the shot.
Despite his stance on the issue, Murphy did indicate that he wouldn't rule out a similar rule down the road.
Nearly 6 million million people who live, work or study in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated. Murphy has said more than 75% of those eligible in the state have been fully vaccinated.
