Murphy and Ciattarelli Condemn Trump Diss of the Late Colin Powell
Both Governor Phil Murphy and his opponent in the November 2 Gubernatorial election, Jack Ciattarelli found something they agree on, that the comments made by former President Donald Trump in regards to the late Colin Powell were both “petty” and “despicable.”
Powell, the former U.S. General and Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, died at the age of 84 from complications due to COVID-19 earlier this week. Yet that didn’t stop the former President from launching missives, criticizing Powell for the Iraq War, and going after the media for covering his passing.
As quoted in a story by Newsweek: “‘Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media,” Trump wrote in a statement released by his Save America political action committee on Tuesday.”
Governor Murphy Tweeted out his displeasure with the ex-President’s remarks:
Former President Trump’s comments on the late General Colin Powell are among the worst and most despicable things he’s ever said, which is saying something. May his comments serve as a reminder of what our country sharply rejected last fall.

Ciattarelli also didn’t hold back in his anger.
Secretary Colin Powell was a Vietnam veteran and a trailblazing statesman. He deserves better than President Trump’s petty insults upon his passing.
