Former President Obama To Visit New Jersey
Former U.S. President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit New Jersey this weekend to show support for New Jersey Governor Phil Muprhy as election day is just two weeks away.
Obama will attend a rally on October 23 in Newark. The event will be used to promote early in-person voting, which also begins the same day.
Murphy and Obama have a long history together with Murphy serving as Obama’s Ambassador to Germany from 2009-2013.
Democrats are pulling out all the stops to show their support for the New Jersey governor, who leads — according to the polls — his GOP rival Jack Ciattarelli.
First Lady Jill Biden is expected in New Jersey on Friday, according to NJ.com. “Vice President Kamala Harri and U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords visited last week, and U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar made a trip here on Sunday.”
Meanwhile, Ciattarelli received an endorsement from GOP National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel at a rally in Burlington County on Tuesday. McDaniel claimed families have been hurt by the Governor’s policies.
“People’s families are being hurt under Phil Murphy. And everyone knows it. Let’s not forget his disastrous record on COVID, where so many people lost loved ones because of a governor who failed them. You talk about [former New York Gov. Andrew] Cuomo. Phil Murphy is just as bad.” (News 12 NJ).
Election Day is November 2.
