Ninth Ranked Rutgers Women’s Soccer Wins 8th Straight
Rutgers women’s soccer team just keeps on rolling. The Lady Knights marched past Big 10 rival Maryland 5-2 on Thursday night to capture their eighth straight victory. The Lady Knights are a perfect 7-0-0 in the BIG 10, and are 12-2 overall.
Rutgers dominated the first half, scoring four goals including two from Sophomore midfielder Becci Fluchel. Senior forward Amirah Ali got the party started with a goal at the 8:24 mark in the first half to make it a 1-0 game to open Rutgers’ onslaught. Sophomore forward Allison Lowrey closed out the scoring in the first half on a penalty kick to give Rutgers a 4-1 lead.
Senior midfielder Franki Tagliaferri scored her 11th goal of the season to open up the second half that made it a 5-1 game.

Goalie Megan McClelland got the victory in net for RU, recording two saves in 84 minutes of action.
With three games left in the regular season, Rutgers women’s soccer will host Michigan State on Sunday at 1 p.m. before hitting the road for Indiana and Illinois next week. After that get ready for the Big 10 Tournament!!
