New York Giants’ Blake Martinez Out For Remainder Of The Season
New York Giants’ middle linebacker and defensive leader Blake Martinez suffered a torn left ACL while playing the Atlanta Falcons Sunday (September 26) at MetLife Stadium.
A press release from the New York Giants states:
Martinez was hurt on the game’s fourth play as he pursued running back Cordarrelle Patterson on an eight-yard reception. The six-year veteran remained on the ground for several minutes before two members of the team’s medical staff helped him walk off the field.
“Success is to be measured not so much by the position one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome. Comeback starts now,” Martinez wrote to Instagram.
The 27-year-old along with offensive lineman Nick Gates is the second of the team’s 2021 captains to suffer a season-ending injury. Martinez joined the New York Giants as a free agent in 2020.
The New York Giants will play the New Orleans Saints this Sunday, October 3 at 1 PM.
